The Role
Working alongside our other in-house counsel / senior solicitors delivering advocacy in Courts across Greater London and advice on primarily cases where Landlords have failed to adhere to repairs either by Court Order or agreed settlements in Housing Conditions Cases. In addition, there may be opportunities to undertake hearings in substantive Housing Condition Cases and providing advice to fee earning staff on cases. There is the opportunity to assist in drafting of PoCs and whilst this is primarily a Civil Advocacy Role, applications would be welcomed from qualified barristers or solicitor advocates with higher rights who come from a mixed background, as there may be some opportunity to support or Criminal Prosecutions Team with more simple matters such as plea hearings.
Brief synopsis of role
- To undertake advocacy requirements (covering courts in Greater London Area).
- To undertake drafting tasks as required, such as advices (formal and informal), pleadings and skeleton arguments.

Personal Skills
- The role would suit a qualified barrister or experienced solicitor with Higher Rights.
- Good advocacy skills with plenty of experience on your feet; this will be an almost exclusively advocacy-based role.
- A good communicator with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
- A high-level ability to think critically.
- To have good knowledge of the law relating to housing conditions (s 9/10/11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act).
