Are you an experienced lawyer looking to progress into leadership and management? The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is recruiting legal managers to join our teams across England.

About the role

Legal managers are central to the success of our prosecution and business teams, offering expert guidance on a range of legal and policy matters. You lead a team of lawyers and caseworkers, quality checking their work and providing advice and direction on complex criminal cases. You’re a trusted mentor, coaching and sharing expertise with your team to support their professional development.

This is an influential and rewarding role, offering you the chance to shape the way we work and build positive relationships across the criminal justice system. You make valuable contributions to strategic planning and policy making, lead best practice training, and work with the police to improve conviction rates and public confidence in our work.

About you

We’re looking for lawyers with extensive criminal practice experience. Your leadership is crucial to our ability to secure justice for victims of crime – you must be able to prioritise your workload and offer objective guidance in emotionally charged situations. We’re committed to your professional growth and support you with a range of learning and development opportunities to ensure you thrive in your role. This includes guidance from an internal mentor and enrolment into our management programme, designed to assist you in developing your skills, confidence and capability. We also support you to maintain your existing expertise, with occasional opportunities to appear as a court advocate.
