Professional Support Lawyer- IP

We are looking for a talented lawyer to work in the IP team on our market leading online practical guidance product, LexisPSL.

This is a key role working within the UK IP team, developing and maintaining online practical guidance, insight and materials for IP lawyers. You will be joining a high-functioning team, producing an established market-leading product that covers a range of practical guidance and know-how tools.

Although the role is not a sales role in the traditional sense, client development is a key aspect. The successful candidate will also be expected to build a strong network amongst IP lawyers to inform the services they develop.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate to be involved in the development of market leading products at the heart of the LexisNexis proposition.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining practical guidance, tools and templates for IP lawyers. The primary objective is to deliver indispensable content that our customers love. To do that, you will need to keep your finger on the pulse of legal developments in IP and engage with IP lawyers in law firms and those in the in-house market.

The role will involve working with members of other LexisPSL practice areas, the wider LexisNexis business and external lawyers to ensure that the LexisPSL content is high quality and tailored to the needs of our customers.

To deliver this, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering core practical guidance content such as practice notes, precedents, checklists, Q&As and other materials
  • Developing new content and maintaining existing content to a high standard
  • Monitoring information sources to identify and report on relevant news and updates regarding legal developments
  • Working closely with the current awareness team to produce a leading news offering
  • Contributing ideas for the development of technical solutions with our product teams
  • Delivering training to the LexisPSL team on technical legal issues and developments
  • Forging external relationships with law firms and/or authors to promote contribution to LexisPSL
  • Meeting with customers to receive and respond to feedback and to keep up to date with their needs
  • Engaging with internal sales during engagements with customers

We’re looking for an experienced IP lawyer to work in the IP practice areas who enjoys writing technical guidance and precedents, working within a team environment and interacting with key stakeholders across and outside the business. You should have:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister
  • excellent knowledge of IP (with an emphasis on copyright) and the IP sectors
  • experience of working in a leading private practice law firm or a FTSE company as an in-house lawyer
  • ability to communicate complex legal concepts and their practical application concisely, clearly and in LexisPSL tone and house style
  • excellent research, organisation and planning skills, and a strong drive and ability to meet challenging objectives and deliverables
  • ability to work effectively and co-operatively with others, adopting a can-do attitude
  • a proactive approach, taking responsibility for continually developing and expanding areas of expertise, skills and knowledge
