The Bar Council and the Law Society were delighted to welcome more than 80 international Bar leaders and their guests who took part in the events and the ceremonies for the Opening of the Legal Year (OLY).
The Bar Council and the Law Society hosted two parallel seminars on ‘International developments in the field of alternative dispute resolution’ and ‘Justice in times of austerity’ for foreign Bar leaders and members of the Bar and Law Society, and a Bar leaders’ roundtable discussion on legal education and training. The seminar and roundtable
discussion were well attended.
The OLY ceremonies demonstrate the continuing commitment of the whole English legal system to the Rule of Law. It is an important opportunity to showcase our legal system to a significant gathering of international Bar leaders and an opportunity for Bar leaders from around the world to spend some time together and to discuss, among other matters, current developments in the legal world and matters of common interest and concern for our legal professions.
