The Commission is recruiting for a lawyer to join its in-house Legal Team as a Legal Counsel.

The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer holding a practicing certificate in either the United Kingdom, a Commonwealth country, or in another common law jurisdiction. They will need to demonstrate:

  • 3+ years’ post-qualification experience, preferably with experience in regulatory law and practice, financial services law, or company and commercial law;
  • an ability to provide practical and pragmatic legal advice at a pace, and to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues at all levels;
  • excellent decision making and negotiation skills, along with a positive ‘can do’ attitude; and
  • an ability to take personal responsibility for their own workload, and to manage competing priorities in a flexible way.

The Legal Team provide legal advice to support the Commission’s regulatory and supervisory activities and provide assistance on enforcement activities. The team assist with policy development; advise on ad hoc day to day operational matters; advise on or assist with the drafting of Commission rules, regulations and ordinances, and laws which relate to the Commission; liaise with external legal advisors, legislative drafters and external industry bodies; and undertake litigation work.
